YES this is a PAGE devoted to a rather technical topic, ......BUT for YOU: The WEB wanderer, we hope to have some interesting things to help you appreciate what this topic is all about. They are not there yet, and for you folks out there in the "know", make a few suggestions and send in some good stuff. Also, those just looking, tell me what you would like to know or understand better and we will give it a shot.
The very first Nuclear Reactor was called a pile. This is the start of the things nuclear.
After this, A major program was sponsored in the United States of America to
develop the "Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy". This lead to the electricity
generating nuclear reactors. One of the very first of these was in New
England in western Massachusetts.
It was the
in Rowe Massachusetts.
[Note, the plant died an untimely death and for awhile, so did its web site.]
But BEHOLD, I just found today that the site is alive and well with a new URL which is now
in the above jump.
Here is
a picture of it. It was the first nuclear power plant built in New England
and the third in the United States and the world. It was completed in 1960.
Do make the jump to the new site for more pictures.
It generated 200,000 Kilo Watts of power. That is more power than can be generated by 3,300 wind mills of the type installed in California. Where in Massachusetts would we put 3,300 wind mills. I bet they would not fit or be allowed in the town of Rowe, Massachusetts.
Nuclear Power Plants generate clean electrical energy without
The closing down of the plant was clearly not one of the smartes decisions made by those responsible for deciding this issue. Maybe it in the most stupid thing that has ever been done, but it clearly is in the running with many other human decisions. It clear ranks as decision not made by a rocket scientist. Nuclear Power Plants do not generate Global Warming. All other plants that burn anything, (gas, oil, coal, wood, trash, methane from garbage, gasoline, diesel fuel, paper) contribute to GLOBAL WARMING.
I will put here a Pick a Topic, Item of Interest:

For now, I leave you with my favorite tiger ... ... ...AND
Would you like to look at my flag collection?
Two options are available.
I also have a nice old printing press, but it is kinda small, oh well
If you would like to take the time, you could jump to James R. Sheff;, a short web resume ... ... ... ...OR
Show me that first Nuclear Reactor NOW.
Show me again that Nuclear Electrical Generator that
generated more clean electricity than 3,300 wind mills. I would like to
visit the Yankee pages to learn
more about this plant.

The new millennium is moving along.
We can now again say "back in 02 when I was a mere child".
